Is it healthier to consume 3 hardy meals or 5 smaller meals throughout the day? – Andy C., San Luis Obispo, CA
Eating 4-5 small meals throughout the day is a great idea if you’re trying to get healthy! Eating small meals more often can help to curb your appetite and keep you feeling full and satisfied all day long. You’ll be less likely to overeat.
Eating less more often can also help prevent peaks and valleys in your blood sugar, which can result if you eat big meals less often. Low blood sugar can leave you feeling hungry, tired, cranky and more likely to reach for those convenient, sugary and fatty processed foods that you’re probably trying to avoid! But at the end of the day, what matters most for your diet and overall health is that the meals you do eat are nutritious with a balance of lean protein, complex carbs and healthy fats! 🙂
Happy Meal Time!
